Tortured for Christ

This book is interesting. It gives you a perspective of what it is like to be a Christian in a Communist nation. It can be very difficult. However, there was one page I read last night that made so much sense, I felt led to share it with everyone. For those of you that don't believe in God, or in Jesus, please read...

This excerpt comes from page 96 in this book...

One underground church leader was pleading with an atheist: "Suppose that we could speak with an embryo in his mother's womb and that you would tell him that the embryonic life is only a shot one after which follows a real, long life. What would the embryo answer? He would say just what you atheists answer to us, when we speak to you about paradise and hell. He would say that the life in the mother's womb is the only one and that everything else is religious foolishness. But if the embryo could tink, he would say to himself, 'Here arms grow on me. I do not need them. I cannot even stretch them. Why do they grow? Perhaps they grow for a future stage of my existence, in which I will have to work with them. Legs grow, but I have to keep them bent toward my chest. Why do they grow? Probably life in a large world follows, where I will have to walk. Eyes grow, although I am surrounded by perfect darkness and don't need them. Who do I have eyes? Probably a world with light and colors will follow.'

"So, if the embryo would relect on his own development, he would know about a life outide of his mother's womb, without having seen it. It is the same with us. As long as we are youg, we have vigor, but no mind to use it properly. When, with the years, we have grown in knowledge and wisdom, the hearse waits to take us to the grave. Why was it necessary to grow in a knowledge and wisdom that we can use no more? Who do arms, legs, and eyes grow on an embryo? It is for what follows. So it is with us here. We grow her in experience, knowledge, and wisdom for what follows. We are prepared to serve on a higher level that follows death."

About Jesus, the Communists printed that He never existed. The workers of the Underground Church answered this easily:"What newspaper have you in your pocket? Is it the Pravda of today or yesterday? Let me have a look. Aha! January 4, 1964. The year 1964 counted from when? You say Jesus never existed, yet you coun the years from His birth. Time existed before Him. But when He came, it seemed to mankind that everything which had been before had been vain and that the real time began only now. You Communist newpaper itself is a proof that Jesus is not fiction!

SNOW!! Something we usually don't get 'round here.

The kids had a great time outside--if only for a little while. It was blistering cold for what they were used to, windy, and lots of snow.

6 Week Memory Challenge

We got challenged at church this last Sunday to memorize Ephesians 2:1-10. It is the whole gospel in Ten Verses.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

But because of his great love for us, god, who is rich in mercy,

made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

not by works, so that no one can boast

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

New Camera

Just got a new camera. Nikon D40. Here are some pictures I took from my back yard. It is the steeple from the First Baptist Church in Kinston, NC. One is taken as the sun was going down, the other was taken at night on a really foggy night. The last is Mary Christian, Landon, and Savannah--the light comes from a florescent reading lamp.
